I spy with my little eye a quinoa dish.
This was at a party I attended Saturday night and it was delicious.  The main ingredients were quinoa, seminole pumpkin and corn - yummy!

The following are photographs of my Japanese Silk Trees.  I had not heard of them before I bought my current house.  The lady I bought the house from told me what they were, so I hope that's correct as she also told me that my orange tree was a lemon tree - boy did I think I was clever growing oranges on my lemon tree.  (The seller had led quite a fascinating life.  She was in her early-80s, had been married half a dozen times and had a number of careers - including jazz singer.  As a singer, she toured all over Europe in the 60s and 70s singing at clubs.  I didn't even mind when the inspectors and contractors were late to appointments during the purchase as I got to listen to her stories.)  Anyhow, back to the trees... not only is the bark visually interesting (and a little scary), it blooms and produces the most beautiful hot pink flowers that are very similar to orchids. Sadly, the trees are not currently in bloom.

I spy with my little eye a Pug.

And, yes - I paid the $1 and got the kisses!  This was at Central Florida Veg Fest, which was this past Saturday.

Here are a few more photos from the event:

My friend, Elayne, buying some organic, vegan soaps:

No Veg Fest would be complete without a Hare Krishna drum circle:

I noticed this walking to the event from the parking garage. I like how they painted the support to blend in with the palm trees:

Happy Monday - have a GREAT week!

Cornerview - What Tickles Me

Francesca said that we have to keep it clean, so no stories about me, the hot Scottish actor James McAvoy and those peacock feathers...

Anyhow, as you may have realized, I am a little on the silly/goofy side and very easily amused.  Many things tickle me.  There's no telling what may set me into a fit of giggles.   Names of people and places can be especially entertaining to me.  One of my favorite town names is Iuka, Mississippi.  I just love that name.  It sounds like the horn in old car - I-ooooo-kuh, I-ooooo-kuh.   Even now I can't say the name without air honking an imaginary  steering wheel horn.

I spy with my little eye - oranges.

My orange tree fruits twice a year and, as you can see, the fruit is almost ready.  It is usually full of fresh fruit by American Thanksgiving (end of November).  And, if I do say so myself, MY oranges are the best :-)

After I got my I Spy for O ready to go, I went to bring in the cats and found this little guy on my patio. So, I spy with my little eye another O - opossum.

RIP Dear Friend

Yesterday, I lost one of my best friends, Parker.   We tried everything, but he was 16, which is 91 in dog years for a big dog.  He was an amazing dog and I will miss him dearly.
RIP sweet Parker Poodles - I will always love you.

Cornerview - October

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. There are so many local homes decorated for October/Fall/Halloween, I wanted to take some photos to share for the October-themed cornerview.  However, it has been raining since Friday.  (It did stop today while I was at work, but I think it would be frowned upon if I left the office to take photos for CV... especially as they know that I've been interviewing.  And keep everything crossed as I am still up for a job at that firm I interviewed with a few weeks ago.)

So, my second thought was a photo of the pumpkin "patch" at the grocery store. However, it was outside and in order to get a decent shot, I would have to stand in the flooded parking lot.  So, I'm afraid this is the best I could get.

There's a ghost, a pumpkin, Lady Luck from Halloween Horror Nights and Ashton Kutcher - so it's sort of an October theme.

I spy with my little eye Northgate Plaza.

It has been raining non-stop since Friday afternoon.  So, I did not venture far this weekend - only as far as the seedy little plaza near my house.  It's not pretty, but it's an "N" :-)

CV - The last thing I learned...

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. Technically, the last thing I learned, I learned yesterday evening as I pulled out of the office parking garage.  I learned that one should not swear at the other drivers AFTER one has dialed one's cell phone.  I was calling a woman I'd never met before to give my regrets for a baby shower for a friend's daughter.  (A nice event held by nice people, right?) I didn't hear her answer and as soon as I finished verbally abusing the cars blocking the intersection, I heard this faint voice on the other line, "Excuse me?"  (If she were a "Corner viewer" she could say that she learned many new colorful words Tuesday.)

However, that is not my corner view post... I belong to an organic gardening group.  Once a month we have educational meetings at Leu Gardens.   Our September meeting was on seed propagation.  As this is a humid area, one of the speakers recommended placing one of these in the bag with the seeds to keep them dry:

I suppose it's pretty obvious really, but it never occurred to me.  And these come in everything from vitamin bottles to shoe boxes.

I also learned that Parker does not mind wearing the "senior dog" diaper I bought yesterday:

He is such a trooper!

Happy Wednesday!
