This week's corner view topic was  perfectly timed for me!  My parents were vacationing in Jekyll Island, Georgia and Saturday Roxanne and I drove up and spent the day with them.  Here's the bridge to Jekyll Island.  (I would have taken more photos, but my camera battery died... oops.)

This is my dream house.  It's bigger than I would ever need, but doesn't it have great bones?  (And I've always wanted a courtyard!)

It's in a great location - about two blocks from the center of the section of town known as "Little Saigon" and, thus, within walking distance of a myriad of Asian restaurants and a fabulous Asian market.  It is also within walking distance of several lakeside parks and the Vajrapani Buddhist Center, where I take meditation classes.

As you can see, it is in serious disrepair.  However, there is a ladder and a shop vacuum in the courtyard area and there are now cars in the driveway when I go past on Sundays.  I hope that this is evidence that someone is renovating the place.

If it were mine, I would install flower boxes, add a picket fence with jasmine, put some climbing roses on the walls... well, maybe you get the idea from my bad artwork below...

Yesterday at lunch, I walked to Lake Eola for this week's corner view topic. I thought I would be able to get a swan with its shadow and perhaps a heron or two.  However, it was a warm day and all of the birds were in the water or lounging under a shade tree... the only exception being this little ibis... who did not leave much of a shadow:

On my way back, I saw the lovely shadow of this tree as well as their reflection in the building behind:

The Leu Gardens Annual plant sale was last weekend.  Lucky me, we ran into Elayne's spinning instructor, Joe.    I told him about Corner View and this week's topic and he kindly offered to pose for me.  Is that some hair or what??
 

 

 

Off topic, Elayne bought a nautilus begonia.  Isn't the pattern of the leaves wonderful?

I usually take new photos each week for the topic.  This week, however, I want to use old photographs. 

 

In 2010, I took a tour of the "Highlands and Islands" of Scotland.  None of my travel buddies were able to and/or interested in taking the tour with me.  As I really wanted to go, I went alone.    When you're alone, how do you photo yourself? Me? I take pictures of my feet...

 

On the way to Glasgow, I had an 8 hour layover in Amsterdam.  So, I hopped on the train at Schiphol and headed to the City Centre for a solo walking tour.  Proof that I was there...

I had big plans for this week's corner view... but lost track of time.  Last night after work, I went to the salon to get my brows waxed and decided to cheat and take photos of their "hand art."  (Incidentally, my hands don't look like any of these...)
