"Change" hits close to home.  I am in the process of changing jobs.  I had an interview Monday and second interview Tuesday, which is good, but that means I had to wear pantyhose  (had to buy them first) and "big girl" shoes two days in a row:

When normally on a hot Tuesday in August in Florida, I could get away with wearing sandals with bare legs and a peasant skirt to work:

Change can be good, but I am glad that I do NOT have to wear hose or heels today :-)

p.s.  Please keep your fingers crossed that I get the job - thanks!

Well, if we do this topic again, hopefully the restraining order will have expired and I will be in a passion-filled relationship with the Scottish actor James McAvoy... until then, I will share one of my "real" passions - Back to Nature Wildlife Refuge ("BTN").  I have always been an animal lover and supporter of animal rights.   When I first moved to Orlando, I discovered BTN and fell in love.   I do a lot of volunteer work and fundraising for them.  It is truly my passion.   Below are some of my favorites from over the years:

Swizzle - an Arctic silver-tailed fox

Zema - cougar
Calhoun - goat
Destiny - sheep

Kaya and Spencer - Arctic foxes
Makai - wolf

During the course of my 43 years, I’ve called over 20 physical places home.  The only connecting thread these places have is me.  The roommates have changed.  The cities have changed.  The furniture has changed.  I carry the memories of each place with me, but if I had to explain them to a complete stranger, how would I?  In order to do this, I had to think of how I remember them.  It’s the “smells” that I tend to think of first.  My childhood home smelled of wild muscadines and my mother’s Chanel  No. 5.  My dorm room smelled of stale cigarettes and hair products.  (It was the late 1980s after all.)  My first “grownup” apartment smelled of Murphy’s oil as I was obsessed with keeping the beautiful hardwood floors glossy.  (Sadly, that is an obsession I outgrew, which is quite apparent as I look at my current floor, which is covered in dog hair and bits of paper the kittens have shredded.)   My current home smells like pets and orange blossoms – hopefully, more of the latter than the former.  For CV, ideally I would post a photo of my orange tree, which currently full of ripening fruit.  However, my camera is in Sweden on holiday, so instead I will post a scan of the orange fabric I bought to make curtains for my sewing room.   It doesn't smell, but at least it's the right color so it's a little on point...

I spy with my little eye Downtown Orlando.  (Sorry for the poor quality photos - I was driving on the highway and shooting photos at 65 mph with one hand on the wheel...)
