My holiday traditions are probably much quieter than most of yours - especially those of you with small children.  When I am in town for Christmas, I meet a group of girlfriends for lunch and a movie.  No one has to clean or cook :-)  (This year, we're going to see Joy.)

Here are some photos of houses that Annie and I pass on our walks.  The owners clearly have their own holiday traditions.

I am too busy trying to finish two classes to even think about the holidays or decorating the house.  I don't think I am going to even put up a tree this year. (Which is really the height of laziness as my tree is in a pot on the patio.  I just need to roll it into the living room and decorate it.  The shelf in the garage that held the ornaments fell down last week, so the ornaments are already unwrapped and all over the garage floor and yet I still cannot be bothered.  How's that for sheer laziness?? I should be ashamed.)

So, back to theme at hand... one of my favorite songs from the '80s is Madonna's Holiday:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHknoSQZibU

And here I am goofing around with my friend, Robin, imitating Madonna... 1984?? 1985?? What you can't see is that we are both wearing a lot of bracelets.  And my shoes?  They were black with a shiny purple paisley design.  (I loved those shoes!!  ALMOST as much as my blue and purple paisley tights.)

It's not cold in Orlando this week.  This is my home thermostat tonight with the windows and back door open:

This is  the only cold place in my house:

And while she's not cold, Pippa is certainly cool :-)

I spent Saturday at three of my favorite places in Orlando:

My Friday night class at Vajrapani center was moved to Saturday morning, so I started my day off there:

Then it was off to the library to do research for my other class.  This is the main library in Orlando.   While it may look like a prison from the outside, it's FABULOUS on the inside.

Then back home to relax....

with Mama cat (hee hee Nadine - I did it again!):

As I live in a warm climate without the dramatic colors of Autumn, my mom sends me colorful leaves from her yard every year.  (Except for this year - she forgot!!)  This one is leftover from last year.

Here is Hamish - hiding behind ferns and purple queens.

Following are trees from my walking route with Annie.

My office is a couple of blocks from this one - still green!

Joy is defined as "a condition of or feeling of great pleasure or happiness."  I have been trying to think of something joyful to post, but I am having some difficulty with that at the moment.  Please forgive me for being a downer, but I just learned today that my sweet dog, Maggie, has an aggressive bone cancer.  The poor girl lived in shelter for 12 years.  She finally gets a home of her own and a little over a year later, the big C.

One of my favorite recipes. (It tastes better than it looks - promise!)

An older photo of me and a hungry anteater - she took my shoe!!!

And my Maggie chowing down.

Now, that Annie's better trained, she and I are able to go for long walks in the morning and at night.  (It's been over 10 years since I've had a dog young enough to take on a 2 plus mile walk.)  However, with work, school, and other obligations, our walks are always in the dark gray of the morning or evening.   I've come to look forward to the quiet walks in the peaceful darkness - bonding with Annie, working out my body, and quieting my mind.

Last week in my corner of the world, we had our annual Global Peace Film Festival.  As always, it was phenomenal!  One my favorites films was Alumbrones -  http://peacefilmfest.org/production/alumbrones - which was a documentary film about 12 modern Cuban artists.  If you haven 't already seen it, I highly recommend it.

In my corner... I am very excited that I will be able to hear this brilliant lady speak tonight:

Event Details

She will share her mission for peace and her efforts toward that noble goal.

Well, I didn't have to go too far to get photos for "overgrown" ...  I am ashamed to admit, this is my veggie and herb garden...

The daisy ground cover in the front is also overgrown, but I think it looks better than my veggie garden :-)

It has become my routine to post photos of the kittens.  However, after Sunday 4 of the 5 will be gone.  (Hamish is not up for adoption, yet, as he needs to be socialized more.)

So, this is the last photo for these three.  (Bathsheba n/k/a Savannah was adopted a couple of weeks ago and is adored and spoiled by her new family.)

Penelope, the black one, went to live with a very nice young lady tonight.  (And, Penelope ended up being a "late blooming" boy.)  Oscar-the-Blond is going to be a companion for a 16 year old cat and a 16 year old girl.  The girl's father is surprising her with him on Saturday as he hopes Oscar can not only help the older cat rally, but help his daughter when "the" time comes.  Ginger Jude is moving to the beach on Sunday.  He will be the only cat to three young girls. I'll miss the little guys, but am glad that they are all going to good homes.  (And you should all be glad that this is the last kitten post :-) )

They will be gone, but my rain-gutter Harry will remain here with me.

Happy corner-viewing from the crazy cat lady!
