Corner View - A Room With a View

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. If you'd like to join in, please leave a link to your Corner View post in the comments at www.fuoriborgo.com, and be sure to visit other participants, too.

I don't have a window in my office.... however, when I got into the office Tuesday morning this was my view.  (The flowers are from the attorneys I work for, not some hot guy... maybe next time :-) )

This is the conference where I spent most of Tuesday in meetings.

These are views from the conference room... not quite Florence like the book...

Happy Wednesday and happy corner viewing!

Bargain Wardrobe

The $24 wardrobe is re-done and it is in use.  I did a really bad job and there are a lot of paint drips... but it works and I am quite pleased with my bargain find.

And here's the "egg and sushi" wallpaper:

I usually eat my big meal at lunch.  If I eat a big dinner, it's at a restaurant.  (I am a HORRIBLE cook.) Having said that, this is what passes as a "family dinner" at my house:

Katie

Mama Cat

Willie

Chip

Molly

Noni the foster dog (she's been with us over 3 mos now... while I
refuse to fully admit it, I think she's here to stay...)

Wonderful Treat

After a long, stressful week, I came home Friday and found this in my mailbox:

It contained a beautiful necklace from Ibabe (http://ibbworld.blogspot.com):

Thank you Ibabe!  I can't wait to wear it!

Last weekend, I went to the wallpaper store to buy some floral paper.  Instead, I found this colorful geometric paper.  Later, I noticed that some of shapes look like eggs.  (And the others like sushi.)

Corner View - Work 'n Play

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. First, I'd like to thank all of you for the kind words last week.  I am feeling much better now and I truly appreciate your kind words!

-----------------------------------
I should have been at work, but instead I left to play....  After missing a  lot of work for the flu, I  had no business leaving early Friday.  However, I was tired, cranky and the office was practically empty because of Spring break.  So, I ducked out a few hours early and hit a few thrift stores on my way home.

First stop, the Mission Store.   I don't know if any of you used to watch Trading Places, but they went to this store in one of the Orlando episodes.  That specific episode featured two houses on the street where I lived several years ago.  In fact, they were shooting the episode when we were moving in to our house. There were "quiet on the set" signs on the sidewalks.  We did not know what was going on at first, but we caught on eventually.

Second stop was the Habitat for Humanity Restore.  I am very proud of myself.  I avoided the paint section completely.  I am a sucker for the cheap cans of funky colored paint.  However, I have TOO much paint in the garage and must stop the madness!

If you're gonna be bad and ditch work, might as well ditch the healthy snacks as well and fuel up on some Mickey D's fries.  So this was stop #3.  (Hmmm... I wonder why I am 20 pounds heavier than I was this time last year...)

One of my favorite shops - actually two shops in one.

Flo's Attic - an Orlando classic.  However, they have more high end antiques - out of my price range.  Nonetheless, I plan to visit this shop again soon and it has nothing to do with the fact that the manager was cute, age appropriate, not wearing a wedding ring and had a cute foreign accent. (Wink. Wink.)

My local thrift shop - big and dirty and fun to poke around - you never know what you might find.

So, what did I buy?  I bought a green baby blanket to use to make tea cozies and a cute little hippo.   Did I need the hippo?  No, but he made me smile and was only $0.75.  I figured that was a bargain for a smile and he is now sitting here in my home office with me.

Another blanket for tea cozies.  Although I like it on the table and may try to save enough of it for a table cloth.

A sundress to bum around in - for $1.92, I couldn't resist.  I also bought some puzzles.  I want to make jewelry from the pieces.

And the piece de resistance.... drum roll please....

A wardrobe for $24.24!  Actually, it's an entertainment center designed to look like a wardrobe that I am going to use as a wardrobe.  It's solid wood except for the breakaway back.  I can't wait to start redoing it.

Happy corner viewing!

Liebster Award

My blog friend, Beck to Vintage (http://becktovintage.blogspot.com) was kind enough to give me a Liebster Blog award. Beck -  thank you so much for including me!  I really enjoy your blog.  We have such similar tastes that it’s as if we are twins separated at birth… and raised over 6,000 miles apart J

Here are five random facts about me:

1.     I am a vegetarian and a “vegan-in-training”

2.     I have lived in 7 states and while I consider myself a southerner as I’ve lived in the south most of my life,  I was actually born in Buffalo, New York.

3.     I have never sent a text and have no desire to do so.  (Actually, I am a borderline militant anti-texter.)

4.     I am the youngest of three girls and was spoiled rotten as a child.  (And loved EVERY moment of it!)

5.     I am the goofy woman who dances, sings and whistles around the office as I am generally a very happy person.  However, I do fear that one day a co-worker will push me off the roof of the building as I can be quite annoying (esp when I’m whistling or belting out bad ‘80s tunes off key).

Now to pass this award on to 5 other blogs I enjoy:

And if you ladies of the above blogs, would like, choose 5 blogs with less than 200 followers to pass the award on to and post five random facts about yourselves.
