CV - Mother

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. If you'd like to join in, please leave a link to your Corner View post in the comments at, and be sure to visit other participants, too.
I am very close to my parents-closer to them than I am either of my sisters. After all, both of my sisters were on their own and living in other cities before I was even in high school. So, for high school and university years, I had my parents all to myself. (I did go away for university, but still returned home for holidays and the odd weekend.) As my father travelled a lot when I was in high school and, for the most part, was only home on weekends. It was just me and my mother during the week. While we fought as is typical of teenaged girls and their mothers, some of my fondest memories are from that time. I remember we would eat “Lean Cuisine”for dinner and then split a half a dozen donuts for dessert. If I had a day off, we would often pack a picnic lunch and go for a drive in the country. We even used to do "drive bys" of boyfriends and/or potential boyfriends houses - even getting caught one time... I could go on and on and on, but I'll stop here and share one of my favorite photos of me and my mom. This photo sits on my piano and is a constant reminder of a lovely spring break trip we took together in 1987.  The photo is not so great, but the memories are.
Happy corner viewing!
[On an unrelated note, this will be my last CV until late June or early July. I am getting ready for a three week trial that begins June 4th out of town. Thus, the rest of May will be work, work and more work.]

  1. Beautiful words and lovely picture full of memories.

  2. The very special closeness to the mother is something that you remember for a lifetime. And that's good. Lovely photo!

  3. Beautifully written memories and what a great photo of mother and daughter! Thank you for sharing!

  4. What wonderful memories shared with your mum. Sounds like you've had some fun and lovely times together.

  5. It's great that you have that closeness. It'll last you a lifetime!

Stay strong for the trial. Hope you can catch up with all of us afterwards.

  6. great post, and good luck with your trial. See you in july....

  7. Those times are so special. We are lucky to have mothers to share our lives with.

  8. Hope my kids will have some good memories of just fun times together! Good luck with your work Heather!

  9. It was that way for me too! By the time I was in 7th grade, both my brothers were married, so I was an 'only' in many ways. Unfortunately, my mother had to go to work to help pay for my brothers' college education, so I actually had less time with her than when I was younger.
It was my dad who stepped in to fill the void as his job was much more flexible, so my one on one trips and such are more with him. But Mom more than made up for it later on in my life when I had kids and she no longer worked.

Great memories you have---you'll always have them. Great pic of you and your mom.

Hey, before you get too busy to check blogs and emails, I need your physical address. You're next on the Corner to Corner project and I'm the sender/giver! Fun, huh?!

  10. well, good luck on that work load o' yours! hang in!!
and lovely story about you and your mum.

  11. I think the photo is a great one. I can see your mom's personality in her smile. It has a bit of sassy to it, with a hint of just wait to see what I can do. :)

Good luck on the trial. If you can stop by my blog to let me know when you are back. Have a good weekend my friend! xo

  12. Wow - you are so lucky! What fabulous memories and what a wonderful mother/daughter relationship.

Good luck with the trial :-)
