I love to read and I like "real" books, not e-books. My all time favorite book is The Magus by John Fowles. My favorite writer is Thomas Hardy with a second place mention going to Ken Follett. This is my "to read" stash. The yellow bag contains books on loan from my eldest sister. The top two books on the nightstand are library books on Bonnie and Clyde. (Clearly, I had nothing to read, so I had to go to the library...)
This is the book with whom I've spent the most time. It is the book that we are studying in my Kadampa Buddhist Class. The book is about 350pp and we have been studying it since February and are not even to page 120, yet.
And this is completely off topic, but we had a cold snap this weekend. Maggie and I snuggled up and watched "Chick Flicks" together. She has settled in so nicely that you would think that she had lived here her whole life and not spent the last 12 years in a shelter. We are going to Tennessee for Thanksgiving week and I will be adopting another dog, Annie, while we are there. Annie is a rescue, too, and I hope she doesn't wreak too much havoc in our peaceful home!
Happy corner-viewing!
you kind, big heart you are, how brave, all these dogs. i like your last snap, it shows coziness indeed. and oh, on books... don't even get me started. my to-read stash is just as impressive as yours, but it sits inside a cupboard. thank heavens for that... you seem to be into britlit too, no? follet, fowles... n♥
ReplyDeleteI read my first Follett book this summer...Pillars of the Earth. It was wonderful! I understand there's another book that continues the story so will have to go searching for it!
ReplyDeleteI love it too to hug my dog when I'm reading or watching tv. It is a good time.
ReplyDeleteso happy for Maggie (12 years in a shelter!). and so happy that the cold snap gave you a chance to do some embroidery together :)
ReplyDeleteSweet and cozy book post! I can relate to the pile of books from your eldest sister, I have at this moment a pile of books on a stack marked for my younger sister. Maybe your post will inspire me to go to the post office and send it off to her!! Wishing you lots of happiness and happy reading!♡
ReplyDeletePS I LOVE your pink walls:)
Steps I'ld like to discover!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd lovely "corner" for your books and moment of happiness at home ;)
Ken Follet has a book inspired in the cathedral of my town...World Without End.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the TV series of the outlander. So far there are eight episodes. I love them all. I can only watch in English. German subtitles are not yet available. The Scottish English is difficult for me. But luckily I know what action is shown. And yes, Jamie is a feast for the eyes.♥
ReplyDeleteWow what a collection! That's awesome your taking a Buddhist class. I love the art on the cover of your class book.
ReplyDeletewhat a load of books books and books...i guess you like to read ;-)

I had to start giving books away as they were every where. Husband has tried to convert me to e-books, but I love holding them and turning the pages.
