Corner View - Synchronicity

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. If you'd like to join in, please leave a link to your Corner View post in the comments at www.fuoriborgo.com, and be sure to visit other participants, too.

I don't think there is a person in the US who was a teenager in the 1980's who doesn't hear the word "synchronicity" and immediately think of....

When I think of the Police, I am reminded of the afternoon that a group of us played "hooky" from an afternoon assembly to go to the Mall of Memphis to see Andy Summers who was there signing his book of photographs.  This was in 1983.  I was not old enough to drive and when we got back to school, my mother was already there to pick me up.  I had to lay on the floor of Denise's car as we had to pass my mother in the parking lot.  Then, I had to crawl out of the car and in between cars to the door of the school before I could stand and pretend to be leaving instead of just arriving.  I did, eventually, confess to my mother... but not until I was safely in my thirties and could not be punished :-)

I would like to thank all of you for your kind comments last week when I lost my Molly.  Your kindness is greatly appreciated!  I wish you all could have met her, she was an amazing girl.

Happy corner-viewing!

  2. This is good. :) I can also remember something. I also did things I was not allowed. Some know my parents, many still do not. For example, I often hitchhiked about 15 years. That my parents have forbidden (and was also quite risky to me). Well, nothing happened. But I would not do it again - now that my brain is a little grown. :D

    1. I have never hitchhiked here, but I have overseas - like you, when I was younger. Not today!

  3. Haha, this is what Teenies do! I was lucky enough to have parents that even wrote an excuse for my teachers to allow me to go to a concert of my most admired bands (well, of course they accompanied me)! It was 2 or 3 times they did that, but I'm still thankful today for giving me that chance!
    Great story, Heather! ;o)

  4. I had a similar situation when I was about 16! I had snuck out and I got home a little later than attended. When I walked into the kitchen my father was up. He was never up that early. I don't know if he knew I had just come home, but he didn't say anything. I never snuck out again for the fear of getting caught. It was too close of a call for me!
