Corner View - Darkness and Light

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - created by Jane and currently curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. If you'd like to join in, please leave a link to your Corner View post in the comments at www.fuoriborgo.com, and be sure to visit other participants, too.

On Christmas Eve, the Vajrapani Kadampa Buddhist Center had a Festival of Lights.  We had a lesson and then meditated in the "dark" with only the lights on the alter.

Happy new year!

  1. isn't a celebration of light during winter darkness what christmas is about, across and beyond particular beliefs? perfect way to spend that day.

  3. Can't imagine christmas without candle light! Don't know why, but that kind of light is always touching something deep inside, a lot more than any artificial light could ever do.
Happy new year to you, too!

  4. We always go to the community midnight church service. It is always ended with the congregation holding lit candles and singing "Silent Night." I never tire of that moment. :>)

  5. Darkness without light candles is often scary. The Dark time but with candlelight is very cozy. - 45 F is mistaken. Was not there palm trees in your locality? Is not it always warm?
