CV-Experiment

Corner View is a weekly appointment - each Wednesday - curated by Francesca, where bloggers from all corners of the world share their view on a pre-arranged theme. If you'd like to join in, please leave a link to your Corner View post in the comments at www.fuoriborgo.com, and be sure to visit other participants, too.

-----------------------------------

My experiment - to do a juice fast for 10 days.  One of the "requirements" of the fast is to avoid caffeine during the fasting period.  Now, I may have the sense of humor of a 13 year old boy, but I have the body of a 45 year old woman.  On the second day without caffeine, I was absolutely useless.  I laid in bed with no ability - or  desire - to move. I summarize a lot of medical records and I felt the way that people describe severe depression.  Luckily, it only lasted one day or else I would have been mainlining Starbucks on the second day.  It's now day 11 without caffeine and I feel AMAZING.  As for the juicing... I only made it two days.  I'll try again... one day.

And for those keeping tabs - my office only has one kind of decaf coffee and two decaf teas - my choices have decreased immensely!

Happy Corner-Viewing!

p.s.  Thank you all for your kind comments last week.  I am enjoying the new job and have "survived" the 90 day probationary period :-)

  3. Congratulations on the job! This reduces a lot of worry.

Wow, a diet with juice for 10 days. I would not make it one day. This is tough.

  4. I wouldn't have made it on a juice fast either. Like just soup, it's all about the "slosh" effect in the stomach. It needs something solid!
You'll need to bring your own decaf varieties to work.

  5. Two days of juice fast is pretty amazing too! Congrats on the job front and on the experiment!! Its great how you `allowed` whatever was happening to happen, giving in to the exhaustion from the caffeine withdrawal, stopping the juice fast when your body needed it, and going the week caffeine free. With some juicy photos to show for it!! Bravo as they say in the world of science:))) PS I have spring allergies and have been going without coffee for the month of February to keep the allergies in check, and it does help, but I can`t wait `till March to have a cup.

caffeine addiction is very much in the mind, is it not? once breaking the cycle, one finds one can do without... now, i'm NOT doing without, i just do not drink it in the mornings no more. and have a nice cuppa in the afternoon.
    good luck, heather!! n♥

  8. Oh Heather!! Well done :-) I'm not a caffeine addict myself but my husband is - he starts getting awful headaches if he doesn't have his daily cup (or two). I'm not sure I'd like to encourage him to give up actually - he's very grumpy when he has one of his headaches!!
