Julie & Julia Self-Challenge - Week 6

In order to "catch myself up" in my self-challenge, I made two dishes this week.

The first is Chunky Guacamole.  It was good - after all, how can you go wrong with avocado?  However, next time I will not use the garlic.  As much as I love garlic, the recipe called for two cloves, which I thought over-powered the avocado.

The second recipe was for Asian Vegetable Turnovers.   They may not look like much, but they are awesome!  I even had a couple cold for breakfast this morning and they were good, too.  I was surprised how easy this recipe was.  (Although, I do need to work on my wonton wrapper folding skills.)  This recipe I will definitely make again.

  1. I made spring rolls for the first time ever this weekend (I'd been craving Asian food, and was able to find some rice wraps), and they were delicious, but I didn't master the rolling technique either ...

    1. It looks so easy in the book and the turnovers in the book were so beautiful and symmetrical... oh well, mine still tasted good :-) I love spring rolls. I'm going out for Thai tomorrow - maybe I'll get some as an appetizer, now that I am thinking about them.

  2. I recently watched that movie with my kids, after wanting to for quite a while. What an interesting life she had!

    1. She sure did! And wouldn't this project be much more fun if I were doing it in Paris?
